RGX-297 Nephilim Gundam

After the end of the Zanscare Empire War, the League Militaire quickly began it's move to solidify it's position after the conflict joining forces with the declining Earth Federation Government to breath new life into the failing democracy. With an emphasis placed on fairness to spacenoids the new Earth Federation had completely reversed it's isolationist policies. Because of this new expansion Space grew uncomfortable with the new more hands on approach of the Earth Federation Government, once again igniting a call for independence among some of the more extremist spacenoid groups. Because of this new threat the new Earth Federation Government initiated a new Gundam development program meant to replace the former League Militaire's LM312V04, now re-designated RX-312V, LM312V04 with a new mass produced Gundam unit.

Originally designed to be a mass production unit plans were changed when Space Liberation Army terrorists high-jacked the production facilities on Von Braun. After discovering the incomplete frame of what was to become the RGX-297 the Terrorists used the facility to severely alter the design. The terrorists utilized the captured workers and frame to develop a new mobile suit far exceeding the capabilities of the original Victory 2 Gundam design. An emphasis was placed on solid ammunition for this new design do the limited ability of the SLA to supply adequate parts to beam weapon maintenance.

However, that did not stop the SLA from equipping the RGX-297 with the most devastating beam weapon ever put into use on a mobile suit. The 103.5MW Mega Beam Canon, dubbed the Apocalypse canon by the RGX-297's pilot was capable of matching the destruction brought on by the GP-02A's nuclear Bazooka at full power. However, do to a massive problem managing the massive amount of heat produced by the weapon, it could only be fired three times in succession. After fleeing the Von Braun production facility, the RGX-297 would go on to use it's canon on several major Earth Federation bases prompting the Earth Federation to organize a special task force to eliminate the SLA and the Nephilim Gundam.
